Question #1:

How will I know the original amount of my Visa Gift Card?

Question #2:

How can I check the remaining balance on my Visa Gift Card?

Question #3:

Can I use my Visa Gift Card at more than one place?

Answer:

Yes. That's the advantage of a Visa Gift Card! You can use your Visa Gift Card as many times as you like, as long as there is a balance remaining on the card.

Question #4:

My Visa Gift Card doesn't have my name on it. Can I still use it?

Answer:

Yes. You can use your Visa Gift Card even though your name doesn't appear on the card. Make sure you sign the back of your Visa Gift Card because a retailer can validate your identity by comparing your signature on the back of your Visa Gift Card with the one on your receipt. We recommend that you register your card as well.

Question #5:

Why should I register my Visa Gift Card?

Answer:

Registering your card online at My Account or by calling 1-866-244-5360 has several benefits:

  • You can use your gift card for online or phone purchases.  Most online retailers do not accept payments without a valid "billing" address. Your registered address will serve as the "billing" address that retailers require.
  • Customer Service Representatives will be able to provide prompt and efficient assistance when you call.
  • In the event that a card is lost or stolen, a replacement card can be issued and any available balance on the lost or stolen card can be transferred to the new card.

Question #6:

What should I do if my Visa Gift Card is lost or stolen?

Answer:

You should immediately report any problems or a lost or stolen card by calling Customer Service toll free at 1-866-244-5360.  A replacement card will be issued and any available balance will be transferred to the new card less the $5.00 lost/stolen/ fee that will be deducted from the card’s available balance and a new card issuance fee will apply.  As long as the lost or stolen card is reported immediately, you will not be responsible for any unauthorized merchant charges.

Question #7:

What are some tips that I should know about my Visa Gift Card?

Answer:

  • For your security, sign your card on the white stripe located on the back of the card.  Keep a record of your card number, separate from your wallet.

  • Know your balance before you shop, as merchants cannot determine the balance on your card.

  • The gift card has the Visa Debit logo displayed on the card.  However, the card does not have a pin number and therefore needs to be handled as a credit card.  If ever asked “debit” or “credit”, make sure that you choose “credit”.

  • The gift card cannot be used for ATM transactions, cash advances or any type of cash access.

  • Certain types of merchants, such as gas stations, restaurants, car rental agencies, communication companies and hotels may pre-authorize amounts that exceed the actual amount of purchase.  (Example – Gratuities).  When this happens, have the merchant manually run the transaction for the balance on the gift card and pay the difference with an alternative form of payment.

  • You can use your gift card for online or phone purchases.  However, if any of these online merchants require address verification, the gift card will not work, because address information at the time of purchase isn’t required.  There is now a function in the consumer website – “My Account” that will now allow you to register your card.  If the card does get registered, you would then be able to use the gift card for online purchases.

Question #8:

Can I use my Visa Gift Card at an ATM or can I get cash back at a bank or point of sale?

Answer:

No.  A Visa Gift Card can be used for purchases at any location that accepts Visa® debit cards. However, the card cannot be used at ATM's and cash-back is not available at a bank or point of sale.

Question #9:

Can I add more money onto my Visa Gift Card?

Answer:

No. At this time that feature is not available.

Question #10:

What if a Visa Gift Card purchase is declined?

Answer:

The card’s available balance is probably less than the purchase amount.  You should call 1-866-244-5360 to obtain the remaining balance on the card and use another form of payment to pay the difference, subject to the policy of the merchant.  Also, the use of the gift card at some merchants, for example, restaurants, mail order companies, and cruise lines – requires the card to have an available balance greater than the purchase amount to ensure sufficient funds for tips or incidental expenses.  Use of the card at automated fuel dispensers often requires a minimum balance of $50.00 and use of the card at restaurants often requires a minimum balance of 20% to 25% above the purchase amount.  However, only the actual amount spent will be deducted from the card.

Question #11

What happens if I spend all of the money on my Visa Gift Card?

Answer:

Once you have used up the funds on your Visa Gift Card, your card will be closed. You can keep it in case you need to return an item you have purchased using the card, which will reopen your card if it has not passed the expiration date. You can keep it as a memento. You can also discard it once you have spent all of your money.

Question #12:

How long can I use my Visa Gift Card?

Answer:

All Visa Gift Cards must be issued with an expiration date at least five (5) years from the date of issue.  Your Visa Gift Card expiration date is embossed on the front of your card.  You can use your card through the last day of the month printed on the card.

Question #13:

Is there a maintenance fee or inactivity fee associated with the Visa Gift Card?

Answer:

There is no maintenance fee associated with the Visa Gift Card.  However, there is an inactivity fee of $5.00 per month that is assessed the first of each month following twelve (12) consecutive months of inactivity.

Question #14:

What do I do if my Visa Gift Card is expired and I still have a balance?

Answer:

If you have a balance remaining on your Visa Gift Card, you can request to have a check mailed to you for the remaining balance, minus the processing fee.

Question #15:

Can I make purchases for more than the amount remaining on my Visa Gift Card?

Answer:

For purchases that are higher than your Visa Gift Card balance, you can use your Visa Gift Card along with another form of payment. Your Visa Gift Card is a prepaid card and can only be used up to the amount on the card. If you attempt to make a purchase for more than the amount available on the card without another form of payment to pay the difference, the transaction will be declined.

Question #16:

What do I do if I have moved since I registered my Visa Gift Card?

Answer:

You can change your address or telephone number by calling a Customer Service Representative at 1-866-244-5360.

Question #17:

Why is my Actual Balance different than my Available Balance?

Answer:

Typically, your “Available Balance” is less than your “Actual Balance” because your “Available Balance” reflects purchases you have made that have been authorized, but have not yet cleared your card. Your “Actual Balance” reflects all purchases that have cleared on your card.

Question #18:
